If you trying to get pregnant then I am sure you want to be rest assured that you are not doing anything that will ruin your chances of success.

1. One thing you have to be aware of, if you don’t already know is that you need tostop using any form of lubrication. All store bought lubricants like like vaseline and KY jelly need to go into the trash can.

I am sure you are asking, Why? This is because lubricants like these damage the sperm and using them could reduce your chance of conceiving by as much as 50%

There are many things you can to increase your chances of conceiving and one of them is to monitor your cervical fluid.

2. Timing Is Crucial

There is one main reason for this: The sperm can survive in the right conditions in a woman’s body for up to 4 days but an egg will only last between 12 and 24 hours after it is released from the ovary before it start to disintegrate.

What this means is that you increase your chances of becoming pregnant if you have intercourse several times during the day leading to ovulation and maybe a day after ovulation.

In this article we have looked at how you can use the cm method to determine your “fertile window” but the there are two other methods that may work better for you than the CM method.

3. The Cervical Mucus Method (CM): Very many previously infertile couples have achieved pregnancy after using this method because it helps the woman to identify those days on which the has the greatest percentage on conceiving.

The cervical mucus is secreted by the walls of the cervix and it is thicker, cloudier and less abundant early on in the menstrual cycle. As the woman approaches the day of ovulation, it becomes thinner and more transparent.

Eventually it gets to a stage where it assumes the consistency and appearance of raw white egg.

This is natures way of making it easier for the sperm to get to the egg as the cloudier and thicker mucus is quite difficult to penetrate. You must therefore start following the progress of your CM over a number of months. You now know that the thinner and more transparent your cm is the better your chances of conception if you have intercourse.

How is all the information above meant to help you conceive? You need to time intercourse to coincide within a few days before and may be a few days after ovulation. It is at this point that your egg has the greatest chance of being fertilised by your partner’s sperm.
