Margarine or Butter - Which Should is Best?

There are lots of reasons to avoid margarine and here is another. It can make you stupid.
According to researchers from the University of Auckland, children who consumed margarine every day had definately reduced IQ scores by the age of three-and-a-half than kids who did not.
And youngsters who were underweight when born had scores that were even lower by the time they reached seven.
The tragedy is that margarine was touted us as a healthy alternative to butter. In fact, it could be the unhealthiest ‘food’ ever produced.
You sure wouldn’t know this by looking at the labels. They have statements like ‘100% Natural’ and ‘Mother Nature’s Own’ and ‘Heart Healthy’ and others all over them. But they are just nothing but chemical concoctions fabricated in a laboratory.
The vegetable oils used in a lot of margarine are hydrogenated to make them solid. This turns the oil into highly unhealthy trans-fatty acids.
These manufactured fatty acids have been shown to increase ‘bad’ cholesterol (LDL) and lower ‘good’ cholesterol (HDL). They have also been related to inflammation, one of the major causes of heart disease.
There is another gem of a study about margarine. It’s titled, ‘Margarine Intake and Subsequent Coronary Heart Disease in Men.’
This study is backed up by the world-famous Framingham Heart Study. They followed people for 20 years and recorded the number of heart attacks suffered.
These results were eye-opening.
As margarine consumption went up, heart attacks increased. As butter consumption went up, heart attacks went down.
And that’s not all.
Within the second ten years, the group consuming the most margarine suffered 77% more heart attacks than those eating none!
Not using margarine may not just make you smarter, it could prevent you from having a heart attack or stroke.
Butter is a much better choice. But don’t settle for just any type of butter. I recommend organic butter from grass-fed cows.
This contains both short- and medium-chain fatty acids. These are easily converted to energy. This means that the fat in butter is less likely to be kept as fat in your body.
Plus, it’s loaded with vitamins and essential nutrients your body uses.
And here’s a little information you probably don’t know: Butter contains more vitamin A than carrots. It also provides vitamin E and selenium. These three nutrients help protect your heart from free radical damage.
