In the meantime, don’t forget about the preventative measures at home that should be taking place. It’s important to make sure you get rid of head lice around the house.

A good place to start is by washing the bed linens, clothes, comforters, and anything else in hot water. This will kill off any existing head lice on them. Granted, these little insects will only live for a short period time without blood, but it’s still a good idea. If your family uses brushes, combs, barrettes, or anything else in the bathroom that is similar, soak them in rubbing alcohol or a mixture of baking soda and water.

If someone in your family has head lice, you will find that the actions above need to be considered. Being able to kill lice in the early stages before nits hatch is important. It means you will alleviate the problem sooner and get rid of your head lice once and for all.
