The need for dental assistants is growing at such a fast rate, that there is a struggle for dentists to keep their offices employed with them. There are many junior colleges and trade schools offer courses to get you started in your career as a dental assistant. These classes can be taken, and completed in a short amount of time.
What will you be doing as a dental assistant? As a dental assistant you will work directly with and under a dentist. You will be performing tasks that they ask you to do, in order to get themselves prepared for a procedure.
Some of the tasks involved in your daily job will be, gathering all the equipment and tools needed for a particular job. Once the job starts, use a dental assistant will be in charge of handing each piece of equipment or tool to the dentist as performs his procedure.
As a dental assistant you are required to be a people person. You will be working hands on with people of all ages and statures. From children, to adults. You will be required to make them feel comfortable and at home, responding to their every need.
After a patient has left, it will be your responsibility to clean and sanitize all the tools used during their procedure. These are just a few of the basic task that you will be performing on a daily basis as a dental assistant. As you learn more on the job, you will then be given more responsibility, and in return for money.
